In My Honest Opinion! I feel I have to voice a few truths about this forum: I have been flying with SkyDemon on SD mobile and SkyDemon iPad for the last year or so and very shortly on the iPad Mini, I have nothing but praise and admiration for the software and how it works, I never fly without it, its excellent, easy, accurate, and so simple to use. However I find this whole forum so frustrating! I view this forum everyday, mainly to listen to what other aviators are saying about the software, all the good things, how it could possibly be improved and also the problems they find, the SkyDemon team seem to interact well with their customers and if improvements can be made do their utmost to accomadate in improving things, if enough people want the same thing then 9 times out of 10 its in the next update. Brilliant, we are all helping in some way to get what we want, and the SkyDemon team seem to thrive on evolving this software to meet their customers requirements. Please someone tell me how you can make such a terrific product but have such a lousy forum for your customers???? For the last 8 months or so one of the main topics has been about devices, iPad and Android, is there a section for either of these yet no, I find myself trawling through pages and pages just to find what I am looking for, surely the time has come to have some main sections? iPad, Windows CE, Mac, PC and who knows maybe even Android soon? The front, home page even today as 27th October 2012 says "Latest News 26th September 2012 SkyDemon 2.4.3 Beta Posted" well we all know if you have an iPad what rubbish that is! I have to say I find this a real let down and un-professional. Latest News surely means latest News something like "Due to a problem with the latest iPad update version 2.4.3 the SkyDemon Team advise you don't update your iPad until this problem has been resolved" but no I open my iPad and the App Store tells me a new SkyDemon update is available, like a number of SkyDemon customers I automatically download the newest version expecting all the new features to work! Wrong, in-fact what we all get is a version that doesn't work at all, unable to find satellites errors, so a completely useless version and no information of how to roll back so to be honest I think it made a lot of peoples weekend flying quite difficult. Now I am no software engineer so have no idea what is involved but I do know what quality control is and what testing means! Ok someone made a boo boo and things like that occasionally happen but please in future someone from SkyDemon should announce to all your customers there is an issue and when we could expect this to be rectified? Why an announcement was never made about the cock up and when it would be rectified I have no idea, what I do know is that you let a lot of your customers down. You have a whole big website yet the only way I found out about the issue was trawling through the forums and found that someone somewhere had seen something on Facebook, I even put a post on to help others restore back to the previous version through iTunes!!! Some of us older folks don't do Facebook! Its takes about 5 mins to put an announcement up on your web site, no excuse! One of the most annoying things for the British public is lack of information!
Great product, bad management of important information!

Yes, I second that. The program is great but the forum (i.e., how it is used by the company) is sub-optimal.
Also, there's a lot of free forum software out there that has better functionality. There still is no "go to first unread post in this thread" button. Nor can I display the new posts since my last visit.

The problem with SkyDemon being unable to find satellites was detected on a Friday and fixed the following Tuesday. It has been fixed for a while. Perhaps we could have communicated better about it through more mediums; it was the first time we'd encountered something like that happening.
We have no plans to change the forum software used on this forum. That would be a lot of work for us, and almost certainly mean the valuable archive of threads to date would be lost.

Not sure where the problem lies here, but when I reply to posts on Ipad, the post button does not work. There are a few other little quirks on Ipad with viewing etc too.

Hi I went flying on Saturday 27th October my sky demon 2.4.4 would not pick up any satellite at all .until now I have had no problems at all and used sky demon loads of times .can anyone help or should I just re install 2.4.2 from iTunes ?

I have been very critical of SD Team at one time or another. Also, I have always maintained that their forum provided an excellent venue for their customers and all those interested.
As a user you can not help but feel empowered to initiate threads as you desire and to place comments the way you wished. In effect one can participate authoritatively in the classification of various issues to be discussed as well as vent his/her frustrations endlessly, if they were that way inclined. Every member has virtually an infinite ability to edit their entries. The SD Team has obliged every time I asked them to edit or remove any one of my threads or entries when they became irrelevant or obsolete. The onus of organising the forum is thus as much a responsibility of the forum members as it is of the moderators.
In summary, I would congratulate the Sky Demon Team for keeping such a flexible forum meaningful while under control.
Updating the latest news on the SD homepage has been brought up in the past. It would naturally be desirable to highlight important adverse issues, such as those encountered in the latest SD update for iPAD, in the SD home page, to warn and advise users what to do to remedy them.
These occasional software issues are not exceptional to Sky Demon. They are universal problems encountered by all the big guns in the business such as Microsoft, Apple ...etc. It took Microsoft with its all firepower and global armada of software developers several years to correct some of the serious flaws that plagued Windows Vista before they ultimately released Windows 7.
There is, hence, something to be said for waiting a little longer and not jumping into an update as soon as it appeared. Once the outstanding issues are ironed out and the new bells and whistles are deemed to be all up and running, as judged by those in the community who are more experienced in software trouble-shooting, then, one could make the leap.
As said earlier, SD Team is doing an excellent job, their product is outstanding and they deserve our support. My subscription runs out end of 2014 (not 2013).

Yes, I cannot but agree with this post 100%.
The fact that such a forum exists at all is a big plus for SD! I have trust in the company because they engage in a transparent and honest discussion with their (potential) customers. Very few companies do that. Another one would be MGL Avionics, that comes to mind.

Call me thick, but I can't figure out how to start a new thread.....I have been looking (unsuccessfully) for info on the Cloud....anyway my question is: "is it possible to save a route onto the cloud from the PC version and access it from the web version somewhere else? If not I don't see the point of it....

I just wanted to be the first to answer your query, only for the privilege of being able to say the above.
The answer is simply Yes. Just think of Cloud as your USB or external hard drive and you will be probably 99% correct. I am not sure if you are able to install several operating systems on cloud though. I am sure that Stevelup would be able to enlighten us more.

Thanks Runways.... I have the PC version (paid subscription etc) and it gives me the option to save to the cloud or open from the cloud...not my cloud, Skydemon's bit of cloud...but if I can only access it from the PC version there's not much point as I may as well just save it to my hard drive.... But yes I suppose I could save it on my OpenDrive or iCloud and access it that way, but surely I must also be able to access the Skydemon cloud from the Web version...particularly if I'm a paid subscriber... btw...I CAN be awkward on occasion! but you can call me Anthony if you prefer.... AQ
